Terms and Conditions:
MTS Travel Grant for Overseas Conferences

  1. The applicant must be an active life member for a minimum of three years.
  2. He/she must have presented at least one papers/abstract at the MTS Congress in the past three years; prize winners will be given priority.
  3. If he/she is in receipt of funding from alternate sources, the source(s),quantum and expenses covered must be clearly declared in the application form.
  4. Submissions deemed to be of sufficient merit; accepted abstract with acceptance letter / letter of invitation to present must be submitted with the application.
  5. Frequency of receipt of the Grant should not be more than once in 3 years.
  6. Maximum amount for sponsorship within the Asia Pacific region is up to RM 5,000/-.
  7. Maximum amount for sponsorship outside the Asia Pacific region (eg., US/Europe) is up to RM 10,000/-.
  8. Sponsorship will cover expenses for economy air ticket, hotel accommodation to a maximum of the equivalent to USD 200 per night for up to four nights, and meeting registration.
  9. Disbursement is subject to submission of valid original receipts for the items in No. 8.
  10. The decision of the Council will be final.
 

Remarks:

  • The application for this grant will be open twice per year subject to the financial status of Society.
  • 1st cycle of application (from 1 Jan to 31 Mar of the corresponding year) will be open for events that are going to be held between 1 Jul to 31 Dec of each calendar year
  • 2nd cycle of application (from 1 Jul to 30 Sep of the corresponding year) will be open for events that are going to be held between 1 Jan to 30 Jun of the next calendar year
  • Evidence of abstract submission must be attached with the initial application
  • Announcement of the award winner will be made within 4 weeks after the closing date
  • Evidence of abstract acceptance can be sent later; but must reach the Society’s secretariat 2 months before the beginning of congress event.  Failure to fulfil this requirement may result in nullification of the approved grant.
  • In the event if there is no successful applicant for the 1st cycle of application (1 Jan to 31 Mar), the Council may consider re-opening the application during the second quarter of the year (1 Apr - 30 Jun) for events that are going to be held between 1 Sep of the same calendar year to 30 Mar of the next calendar year.
  • In the event if there is no successful applicant for the 2nd cycle of application (1 July to 30 Sep), the Council may consider re-opening the application during the third quarter of the year (1 Sep - 31 Dec) for events that are going to be held between 1 Mar to 30 Sep of the next calendar year.
